Today is the birth anniversary of noted thinker Jiddu Krishnamurthy. If you tune into radio and TV today, you will find all of them (without exception) calling him Jiddu (rhyming with cricketer Siddhu). The correct pronunciation is JiDDu. It is like pronouncing the words bid - do in English. Just replace b with j. jid-do.
And for those intellectuals who pronounce मूर्ति as मूर्थि, please note that it is pronounced exactly as you would pronounce the Hindi word for idol. No aspiration is required in the 't'.
