This is a word we have been studying since school. Now and then, this word crops up in news bulletins. This was the name given to followers of the Communist Party in Cambodia. It is actually a mix of two languages - the Khmer language and French. Rouge in French means red. The combo is pronounced as come-here rouge (to rhyme with deluge).
The correct pronunciation is come-hie rouge (to rhyme with luge). The 'ge' is pronounced like the 'si' in 'television'. It is in between z and sh.
