As the founders of Google stepped down and handed over the reins to Sundar Pichai, this old irritant resurfaced. This name is normally mispronounced as pichaaii पिचाई.
In my last post on Palaniswamy, I had referred to a habit of people adding an 'a' where none is required. I forgot to add this name in the list of examples (like Palaniswamy, Malai mandir and Dinakaran). This name has been mauled by most anchors and reporters. It should be pronounced as
pichchai (using pronunciation key)
pitch-eye (using respelling)
पिच्चइ (using Devanagari)
