Commonly mispronounced words 74: Edappadi K Palaniswamy

This one has caused most confusion among the media people. First let me tell you what all it should not be pronounced as 

eDDappaaDi palaaniswaami 

eDapaadi palaniswaami 

eDapaaDi pazhanichchaami

eDaapadi palaaniswaami 

There are many such permutations of the first and second names - all are wrong. What really rankles is the fact that non Tamil speakers (especially from the Hindi speaking belt) add a needless aa sound to many Tamil names -

dinakaran becomes dinaakaran

palanisaami becomes palaaniswaami 

kalaimaNi becomes kalaaimani

malai mandir becomes malaai mandir 

But delete the aa when convenient - 

maariyappan becomes mariyappan

venkaTaraaman becomes venkatraman

Siitaaraaman becomes siitaaramaN!

And unlike the zh sound, the a sound exists in Hindi! So unable to fathom the reason for the malfunction. And when you tell them the correct pronunciation, they ask you if you are sure! What made them sure of the wrong pronunciation, god alone knows!

The official website lists his name as எடப்பாடி கே பழனிசாமி . He took oath as that, so that is how he shall be pronounced.

एडअप्पाडि के पळनिसामि (मैंने ळ का प्रयोग किया है पर सही ध्वनि zh की है और ए की ध्वनि ह्रस्व है, जैसे entrance और exit में ए की शुरूआती  ध्वनि होती है)

Please don't use the swaamy version of the pronunciation. 

The vowel sequence is short-short-long-short long short-short-short-long-short

ए(जैसे एंड में)-अ-आ-इ  ए  अ-अ-इ-आ-इ  

व्यंजन के साथ 

ए(जैसे एंड में)-ड-अ- प्प- आ- ड -इ  क-ए  प-अ-ळ-अ-न- इ-स-आ-म-इ
