Commonly mispronounced names 53 - Uruguay

I should start a series called most commonly mispronounced names. This country has been around for quite some time. Has been a football powerhouse too. Yet its name is mispronounced. The biggest culprits are the Hindi news guys. And the irony is that it should be easiest for them. The key is to know that it rhymes with 'why' and not with 'way'. So please do not pronounce it as you rue gway. The correct pronunciation is

ooh-roog (like in rook) why {using respelling technique)
uruGwai {using the pronunciation key}
उरुग़वइ {using Devanaagari}

Please note that the 'g' is pronounced similar to the g in Gazal. If you cannot get that sound, the normal g (as in good) is acceptable.

But please stop making it rhyme with 'way'. There was a scene in an English film where a character fights with another character about the correct pronunciation of his country's name (i.e. Uruguay). I think the film was Midnight Run.
