I hate this so called anglicisation of local words in English bulletins in countries like India. The correct authentic pronunciation of the capital of Malaysia is kwah-lah loom-pur (loom rhymes with boom and u sound in pur is like that in put). In Hindi this would read as क्वाला लूमपुर.
The place is routinely mispronounced as lum-pur (lum rhyming with bum) which is incorrect. So much so that even Hindi bulletins (which can very easily effect the correct pronunciation) takes the anglicised nonsense as gospel.
