This is the most mispronounced surname (even journalists like Shekhar Gupta while introducing Prakash to the audience calls him पादुकोन). Such mispronunciations give rise to funny thoughts in the head, which I shall avoid at this moment. However, whether it is Gurudutt (who was also a Padukone), or Prakash's dad Ramesh or Prakash, they all were pronounced as pud (rhymes with bud)-who-cone-ay. However Deepika pronounces her name without the final syllable of 'ay', hence she is to be pronounced as pud-who-cone (though that is not the correct vernacular pronunciation of her surname). I believe when it comes to name, the right of pronunciation lies with the person. Hence I always stick to 'aap jaise bole.n Biddaa madam'
So dad Prakash is to be pronounced as pud-who-cone-A or पडुकोणे
But daughter Deepika is to be pronounced as pud-who-cone or पडुकोन
